Stockholm Centre for Organizational Research (Score) was established in 1992 by Stockholm University and Stockholm School of Economics jointly, when the Swedish Parliament decided to increase the government’s financial support for thematically focused and multidisciplinary research on the transformation of the public sector. At the centre, researchers with an interest in the organization of society, and in particular in the interplay of public policy, political administration, business, culture, and civil society in the disciplines of economic history, management, political science, social anthropology and sociology, are active.
Project description
The position as Score Fellow is a full time senior guest researcher employment, over a three month period. The holder of the Score Fellow in Public Organization shall have a research interest in organizations and processes of organization and organizing in the intersection between the public, private and civil society sectors. As a Score Fellow you are expected to have an interest in Score’s research areas, such as the main research themes (the organization of markets, the organization of knowledge, the organization of democracy, legitimacy and power, and the organization of rule-setting and rule-following).
As a Score Fellow you are expected to be present and participate in activities at Score. The position means a funding to 100 % during a three month period. Although a concentrated stay over three months is preferred, extension of the stay can be discussed, or divided into short stays over a longer period.
Main responsibilities
The holder of the position shall work with their own Score-related research and shall also actively contribute to the research environment at Score, through dialogues, active participation at seminars and other events at Score during the fellowship period.
Qualification requirements
To qualify for employment as Score Fellow research proficiency need to be demonstrated through independent research in the subject area of public organization by fulfilling the requirements of associate professor (docent), both in terms of quality and quantity.
Planning and management of research activities are also to be assigned significance.
The applicant must have an interest in basic and multidisciplinary social science research and conduct research within the subject area. The applicant must also be interested in the contemporary research themes at Score and have a will to contribute to discussions of new research themes.
The applicant must have the ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise needed to perform the duties well.
Understanding Swedish is not a requirement.
Assessment criteria
Special emphasis will be placed on research proficiency in Score’s research areas; basic research pertaining to management, organization and evaluation of the public sector and its relations to the state, business, and civil society.
Special emphasis will also be placed on the ability to cooperate with employees and colleagues in a multidisciplinary environment.
Strong emphasis will be placed on successfully having applied for and received funding for projects from external research funding bodies.
Strong emphasis will also be placed on the ability to initiate, maintain and develop networks, national as well as international, in the subject area.
The following is a merit
- Administrative talents and capability to collaborate with the surrounding society and to inform about research and development.
- Successful research supervision of at least one student to the PhD degree.
- Documented teaching proficiency.
Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of 3 months. Start date as per agreement.
