Dual Careers Fair at Fryshuset: Bridging Sports, Education, and Work

The Center for Sports & Business recently participated in the Dual Careers Fair at Fryshuset, an event dedicated to supporting elite athletes in balancing their athletic pursuits with education and professional development.

On Monday, the Center for Sports & Business (CSB) participated in the Dual Careers Fair, hosted at Fryshuset in Hammarby Sjöstad. Organized by Fryshuset Basketball in collaboration with the Partnership for Sports Development in Stockholm, the event aimed to help elite athletes navigate the challenges of balancing sports, education, and career development.

The fair brought together elite athletes, educational institutions, and career counselors to provide guidance and create pathways for athletes to combine their sports careers with academic pursuits and professional opportunities. The event also focused on supporting athletes in planning their post-sports careers.

At the fair, we showcased the unique opportunities offered by the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE). Specifically, we highlighted the Special Merits admissions quota, through which SSE annually admits at least 5% of its Bachelor students, many of whom come from elite sports backgrounds. This initiative exemplifies SSE’s commitment to accommodating students with extraordinary achievements in sports.

Adding to the day’s inspiration, Petter Menning, Swedish national team canoeist and current student of the 10th cohort of the Management Diploma for Athletes (MDA) - delivered a motivational talk. He shared his journey of combining elite sports with education and career planning, resonating with aspiring student-athletes in attendance.

CSB’s involvement in the Dual Careers Fair underscores our commitment to supporting elite athletes by creating platforms and programs that enable them to succeed both during and after their athletic careers. By partnering with events like this, we continue to champion the integration of sports, education, and professional development.
