Professor Lars Strannegård new president of Stockholm School of Economics

Today the Board of Directors of Stockholm School of Economics appointed Professor Lars Strannegård president. Lars Strannegård will take office as president on June 1, 2014, succeeding Karl-Olof Hammarkvist.

Strannegård has been Professor of Business Administration and holds the Bo Rydin and SCA Chair in Business Administration, Leadership. In addition, he has served as Vice President of Stockholm School of Economics since 2012. Strannegård has also been a visiting scholar at Stanford University and professor at Uppsala University. He is 44 years old and lives in Stockholm.

“Lars Strannegård is the right person to lead our efforts to further strengthen Stockholm School of Economics’ position in this international environment. He was the best match for the talent profile the Board had drawn up and he has a track record in leadership and an ability to communicate and motivate. Lars has a thorough understanding of the academic world and social engagement, has international experience, and is accustomed to working with boards. He knows the Stockholm School of Economics well and will be operational from Day One,” says Erik Åsbrink, Chairman of the Board of Stockholm School of Economics.

We will now move forward with tasks to bolster SSE’s position as a top international business school. Our key task is to contribute to sustainable development in the business world and society at large, through research as well as the education of leaders and innovators for the future,” says newly appointed President Lars Strannegård.

Lars Strannegård is vice chairman of the board of the Swedish Arts Council and a member of the jury for the August Prize (nonfiction category), the Scientific Council and Board of Trustees of the Centre for Business and Policy Studies (SNS), the board of the Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research (SCANCOR) at Stanford University, the jury for Michael Treschow’s scholarship for design students, and the board of the Bergman Estate on Fårö Foundation.
