His interest in music made him start lunch concerts at SSE

Victor Bao is a second year Bachelor student with a great interest in music which is why he initiated the lunch concerts in the schools Atrium this spring.

Before his studies at SSE, he has always attended music schools, first at Adolf Fredriks Musikklasser and later at Stockholms Musikgymansium where he was in the natural sciences program with a specialization in choir singing.

Together with his former schoolmates, Josefine Mindus and Johan Segerman, who continued their musical studies at the Royal College of Music, they decided to explore the possibility to play music in the Atrium during lunch breaks.

Why concerts in the Atrium?

The Atrium is located at the heart of our school and the place where most students hang out, especially during lunch time. Our goal was to reach out to as many students and faculty as possible, and therefore we decided to arrange the concerts in the Atrium, which worked out really well.

Are you pleased with the outcome?

Before the premiere, we did not know what to expect at all. But already after the first concert, we received a lot of positive response from students, faculty and even people outside SSE. We have also gotten a lot of support from the presidents of KMH and SSE, Cecilia Rydinger Alin and Lars Strannegård, which means a lot.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the outcome.

Throughout this project the students have always had in mind to find a variety of ensembles and genres. They have been able to include music from well-known composers as well as newly written pieces by composer students from KMH. The popular concerts will continue in the fall.
