The Stockholm School of Economics launches a research school in retailing

The Center for Retailing (CFR) at the Stockholm School of Economics is starting a postgraduate research program that will strengthen retail research both nationally and internationally.

The CFR Research School in Retailing welcomes PhD students with an interest in retail, regardless of where they are currently doing their postgraduate studies. The initiative is funded by the Swedish Retail and Wholesale Council (Handelsrådet) and aims to provide a foundation for academic research relevant to the retail sector.

“For the Center for Retailing, the research school is a way to contribute to the development of practically relevant research on retailing,” says Sara Rosengren, professor at the Center for Retailing and head of the program. “This initiative merges research and practice, which is a common thread throughout all activities at the Center for Retailing.”

By bringing together PhD students, researchers and industry representatives, the research school creates a platform for an exchange of knowledge between academia and industry. This will have a direct impact on participating researchers, and encourage practical relevant retail research that can be implemented directly by the industry.

“The initiative contributes to developing the transfer of knowledge between academia and retail companies at the highest academic level, something we support and want to encourage,” says Andreas Hedlund, CEO, the Swedish Retail and Wholesale Council.
