Corporate Relations: a bridge between Partner companies and students

A group of BSc Business and Economics students researched the leadership phenomena in leading companies part of the SSE Partnership Program.

As part of the Organizational Leadership Course Christoffer Eriksson, Felix Segerstedt Grahn, Selemon Tesfahon Wakjira and Marcela Pinto took the initiative to examine how leadership was conducted at top companies in the finance industry.

Many students at Stockholm School of Economics tend to end up in the finance sector, and we saw considerable value in educating ourselves on how leadership could both be conducted and characterized in such a competitive sector as finance.

Global companies such as Investor AB, Goldman Sachs and Citibank were part of the research. However, not only finance companies were interviewed. For example, Pfizer was also included due to the challenges they have faced during the covid-19 pandemic and provided a different perspective from the healthcare industry.

The contact between partner companies and students was established by SSE Corporate Relations. One of the main goals of the team is to serve as a bridge between students and companies from different sectors, aiming to develop an organic relationship between the students and their possible future employers.

SSE Corporate Relations was vital in getting access to the companies, and without their help, it is fair to say that we probably would not have gotten the same access that we finally did. If not the sole reason, Mikael Karlsson and his team are primarily responsible for our success in the vast amount of data and remarkable experience that we had.”

The results of the research granted students the highest score as well as interesting findings to share with their professors and fellow students.

It is no understatement that we would love to collaborate with SSE partner companies again, and we are very thankful to both the companies and SSE Corporate Relations for getting the chance to do it this time!
