New admissions round to SSE Business Lab - star jury backs 8 companies
SSE Business Lab has previously housed successful tech startups like Budbee, Washaway, Voi Technology and Klarna, and these companies will hopefully follow their footsteps. Three of them are entering the Activate program, an eight week long acceleration program, while five are starting the Incubate program, where they will be able to stay for up to 18 months.
There is a wide range of companies; from a platform connecting Africa’s booming startup ecosystem with talent and capital in the African diaspora, to a digital service for anyone looking to buy a home and wants a simpler and smarter journey through the otherwise complicated house buying process.
The fact that SSE Business Lab can support the growth of such a variety of companies comes much to the delight of Sebastian Knutsson, founder of King and chairman of the incubator’s Board of Admissions.
"All the teams work towards solving big problems, that’s the common denominator even if they’re doing so in very different ways. It’s great that we are able to create the best possible conditions for these teams to succeed on a large scale", he says.
For Julia Delin, CEO SSE Business Lab, the latest admissions round is an indication of the fact that the quality of the companies applying to the incubator is steadily increasing.
"The teams are strong, dynamic and experienced, and the ideas are exciting through and through. For us as an incubator it is encouraging to see that half of the teams came from one of our programs and are now entering the next. It gives us confidence that the support we’re providing actually is giving results, as the teams are moving forward and want to come back", says Julia.
In the incubator, the companies will get support through coaching, workshops, mentoring, partner network, investor networks and more. All startups with a team member who is a student, alumni or faculty member of the Stockholm School of Economics can apply to the incubator.
