Lu, Yiwen

Yiwen Lu joined the Department of Accounting as a PhD student in August 2020. Her research is in the field of Sustainability and Management Control and my research methods are interviews and other qualitative methods. Her Ph.D. project investigates the relationships between accounting and the setting of wages in global supply chains. In particular, the focus is on emerging emancipatory discourses such as ‘fair wages’ and ‘living wages’, urging corporates to re-consider wages in their supply chains from a social sustainability perspective. Through extensive fieldwork in a Swedish fast fashion firm and its suppliers in China, she aims to show how a ‘fair living’ wage is designed, governed, and enacted through accounting techniques and control mechanisms.
