Arch
Claes Hake
Arch, 1991, by the Swedish sculptor Claes Hake outside the school, Sveavägen 65.
Claes Hake was born in Göteborg in 1945, and studied at Valand Academy of Art. He is one of Sweden’s most well represented artists in public spaces. Hake still lives in Göteborg and is mostly known for his large-scale sculptures in stone: monumental arcs, arches and gates. The large sculptures are powerful, minimalistic and call to mind ancient sacred sites.
