Masterclasses are interactive workshops for business leaders, grounded in research with practical application and led by prominent academic experts from the SSE House of Innovation, the Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets (Misum), and the SSE Center for Retailing.
All Masterclasses focus on transforming your business and industry for profitable sustainability. In a masterclass, you will gain actionable insights based on research and exchange with other senior peers.

Masterclass 3
Strategy in times of radical uncertainty and change
Geopolitical turmoil, technological disruptions, societal changes and environmental challenges characterize our times as polycrisis. Business leaders not only have to manage risks from unforeseen events but also proactively drive the shift to sustainability. The key challenge is how to think and act strategically to reach financial and sustainability goals without planning, let alone predicting, the future. In this Masterclass we address this challenge and discuss how we can make strategy that is both collective and goal-directed and at the same time remains flexible and agile. Based on research into professional sailing sport, military and business strategy, we will develop the conceptual tools with which we can strategize without planning.
