The Gun and Einar Larsson scholarship (GELS)

Do something unique - demonstrate your ability to achieve impact and gain valuable experiences for your future career, while becoming part of a powerful network.

Each year the President of the Stockholm School of Economics personally hand-picks one or two outstanding students to realize a project of their own design abroad. The purpose of this is to equip these future leaders with the tools and experiences necessary to succeed, both in their studies at SSE as well as future careers.

Many previous GELS winners started out as management consultants and are now CEOs for large companies, entrepreneurs or leaders of large organizations. They work in countries ranging from Sweden and the US to Singapore and Vietnam, providing a global network. Their projects range from fast-food noodles to international aid coordination.

Coming up with a project of your own design and executing it in a foreign country will be both fun and challenging – while providing plenty of personal development. And by setting a clear goal for the impact you aim to achieve you get the chance to apply the theories you’ve learned at SSE in real life.

You can expect to develop a strong portfolio of skills, including how to…

…initiate and drive a project from start to finish
…solve unexpected problems, sometimes without clear answers
…develop an ”impact” mindset, trying to achieve real change instead of proving academic theories
…interact with senior stakeholders (GELS alumni as well as on location)
…work in an international context/strengthened cultural awareness
…gain access to new business (business development)

These skills have been shown by previous GELS scholars to be immensely valuable both for getting that first job, and also for the rest of their career.

About Gun & Einar Larsson Stiftelse

The Gun & Einar Larsson Stiftelse was established in 1999 through a donation by Signe Anetorn Eriksson in memory of Gun and Einar Larsson (SSE 1933). They had been friends and advisers to the donor. Einar was the founder of Einar Larssons Revisionsbyra, which currently operates as Deloitte. Chairman of the Foundation is their son Claes Larsson, SSE (1969) and an MBA from Harvard Business School (1973).
